Girls Rock! DC serves girls and young women ages eight to 18 from the DC metro area. Our primary program is our weeklong summer camp where girls come together to participate in small-group instrument instruction in electric guitar, bass, drums, keyboards, turntables, digital music or vocals. With no prior musical experience needed, they learn to play instruments, form bands and collaborate to write an original song or DJ set, which they perform at DC's legendary 9:30 Club at the end of the week.

We believe every girl has the power to ROCK! Through our music education and empowerment programs, girls development their self-confidence and self-esteem, cultivate their leadership skills and develop their self-expression as strong individuals and as members of a collaborative community.

It costs $550 for one girl to participate in our programs. We are committed to offering financial aid to at least 50 percent of our participants. In our 2013 camp season, we distributed more than $17,000 in financial aid to two-thirds of our campers, ensuring that money was not barrier to a girl’s ability to rock out.

Our goal of $2,200 will ensure full financial aid for four camp participants. We need your help to reach our goal before the end of 2013! Donate now to support these inspiring girls and young women!
