H Street's pizza powerhouse, H & Pizza opened their second location this week at 13th and U, NW while simultaneously owners, Steve Salis and Michael Lastoria announced that they've signed a lease at Brookland's upcoming Monroe Market for their third location. We wish the guys much success with the new ventures. The pizza is definitely slamming!

Fragers Hardware In Capitol Hill Catches Fire
Incredibly saddened when I heard about our local neighborhood hardware store, Fragers catching on fire earlier this evening. Fragers Hardware is a DC institution. In a city that hadn't permitted the big box stores like Home Depot until just recently, many of us had grown up connected in someway to small family run businesses like Fragers for all of our home needs. We've grown close to the employees while a lot of us were once employees ourselves. We are keeping our fingers crossed and hoping the best for everyone directly connected.

Happy Taco Tuesday - Album Art Taco Redo's
It’s no secret Aaron Brink and Steve Reidell of The Hood Internet enjoy mashing things up—from Cali Swag District & Toro Y Moi to Trinidad James & Madeon, these guys are the kings of mixing seemingly dissonant tracks—plus Photoshopping covers to match.
But in the past few years, the pair has taken to Tumblr to amass a different kind of Photoshop mashup: album covers and tacos, aka Album Tacos. Sure, you can imagine Billy Joel gazing into a taco on the cover of The Stranger, or Tupac holding onto a taco for All Eyez on Me. But what about Fergie’s head replaced with a Taco Bell-variety handheld on the cover of Elephunk, or Prince using a taco as an exfoliator on Parade? You’ll have to peep it to understand.

Unlocking The Truth, from New York City are absolutely entertaining. I really can't get enough of these kids. After watching one video off of youtube.com, I was hooked. There's a good 30 of them saved online so do yourself a favor and go watch a couple. They remind me of a real life version of the Gorillaz animation rock group. Total rock stars already! Dunkin Donuts Is Unveiling A Donut Bacon Sandwich
Even as fast-food chains tout their healthy offerings, they’re also coming up with fatty new treats to keep customers interested. Case in point: Dunkin’ Donuts is adding a doughnut breakfast sandwich to its national menu this week.
The sandwich, which comes with fried eggs and bacon between a split glazed doughnut, will become a part of the permanent menu starting June 7, which the chain claims is “National Donut Day.” Dunkin’ Donuts had tested the sandwich in select stores in eastern Massachusetts in April, creating considerable buzz online.

Its very sad to hear that Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings are indefinitely delaying their next album and upcoming tour plans due to singer Sharon Jones' diagnosis of Stage I bile-duct cancer.
Give the People What They Want, the R&B group's sixth album, had been scheduled for an Aug. 6 release.

Give the People What They Want, the R&B group's sixth album, had been scheduled for an Aug. 6 release.
The group, which released its first album in 2002, is known for its energetic revival of vintage soul styles of the '60s and '70s.
Jones, 57, will undergo surgery for her cancer and expects a lengthy convalescence and full recovery.
In a statement posted on the group's website, Jones said: "Over the last few weeks I haven't felt good and I didn't know what was going on. We sadly had to cancel shows while I went through a series of tests and short hospital stays. We just found out that I have a stage-one tumor on my bile duct. Luckily we caught it really early and fast and the doctors say it's operable and curable!
"I will be having surgery very soon and will have to rest and recover. I'll be staying in touch and keeping my fans and friends updated on my progress. I'm looking forward to getting back on the road to give the people what they want!"
Bile-duct cancer affects a thin tube that connects the liver to the small intestine. Between 2,000 and 3,000 people are diagnosed with this type of cancer each year in the United States, according to the American Cancer Society.

Nike today unveiled its latest soccer performance innovation — the Nike Hypervenom — at an event in Rio de Janeiro with Brazilian striker, Neymar. The Hypervenom’s upper is created using the new NIKESKIN system. This execution of NIKESKIN features a soft, supple mesh bound with a thin polyurethane film, and is finished off with Nike All Conditions Control technology (ACC) to provide the same level of foot-to-ball control in both wet and dry conditions. HR Documentary Fundraiser TONIGHT at Black Whiskey
Arguably one of the most influential front men and bands of the last 20 years is lead singer HR and his band, The Bad Brains.
For the last few years, a handful of amazing filmmakers have been piecing together a riveting documentary on the life and story of lead singer, HR and tonight they need your help.
Come down to Black Whiskey at 1410 14th Street, NW at 8pm this evening to join the filmmakers, DJ Neville C and special guests for some footage from the documentary, a raffle and MORE.
