Robert Del Naja aka 3D Launches Exhibition of Iconic Massive Attack Artwork
Retrospective showcase of artist and musician’s most definitive work opens at the Lazirides Gallery in London on Friday.
The exhibition, which will run from 24th May to 20th June, will collect previously unseen pieces created for Massive Attack’s 2010 LP Heligoland alongside a wealth of archival material that has come to define the Bristol band’s iconic visual style over the last twenty years.
Exhibiting “digital mirror pieces” from his ongoing collaboration with UVA from on Massive Attack’s live shows alongside unseen work from 1991′s Blue Lines and 1994′s Protection, “Fire Sale” spans the length of 3D’s extraordinary output, which occupies an elusive and outspoken space between graphic design, graffiti and fine art.
Robert Del Naja has also slated the book ’3D / The Art Of Massive Attack’ for publication later this year. Check out Massive Attack’s releases with The Vinyl Factory HERE.
Great Space, Great Bar, Great Addition to H St. - BYT's First Look at Vendetta
I had the pleasure of having food & drinks with a friend last night for the opening of Joe Englert's newest addition to H Street, Vendetta. If you recall, the new location takes place in what was two of the original H Street businesses, Palace of Wonders and The Red & Black (later combined into one business, Red Palace). This concept was years in the making and I love the final results. BYT did a perfect first look with a great article and images further describing the new venue. Read HERE.

How to Make Your Own Homemade Sriracha!
Fresh Sriracha. Warning: Once you make this version of sriracha, you may never be able to go back to the commercial rooster stuff again. The vibrant color and piquancy of the fresh fresno peppers, combined with plenty of garlic and a boost of vinegar, make for a zippy, versatile condiment. Get the recipe HERE.
Kanye Gets Punk on SNL!
Its hard in the life we live of total engulfed social media, not to be swayed or influenced by an artists personal life or antics. I cant imagine being in a room for 5 minutes with the self indulgent Kanye West that I constantly have shoved in my face. However, I cant get enough of the artist, Kanye West. As a consumer, his artist side is consistently doing everything I'd want him to do, but one step ahead. Just enough to always keep me interested in what's next.
Maybe if it wasn't for Kanye always telling everyone how lucky we are to be in his presence, we'd be less surprised when he actually does something that makes us want to be in his presence. Maybe that's his genius and we are just a part of the Kanye West game?
You can love him. You can hate him. But Kanye West's music is received on a major pop music level while he's constantly showing us these days that he doesn't give a fuck about pop radio! And its STILL working! That is art. THAT is punk rock!
I'm not sure what the rest of the new album entitled Yeezus that comes out on June 18th will sound like. But after hearing the couple songs performed on SNL this past Saturday night, here's to the most punk rock tracks we've heard from any punk rock artist in a long time... and this time its coming from a rapper. Cheers!

Stevie Wonder Turns 60 - Happy Birthday Stevie!
Happy Birthday to one of the most amazing artists of our time, Stevie Wonder as he turned 60 years old yesterday. I truly love Stevie and am in awe and constantly inspired by his body of work. He is a true living visionary and musical virtuoso. Many know Stevie as the amazing voice they grew up hearing, whether it was your parents singing along to their old favorite tracks, Stevie making his beloved appearance on Sesame Street, or your favorite DJ elevating any party by dropping one of his classics, Stevie Wonder transcends era's and genres. But not everyone knows Stevie is also a master of most musical instruments while also playing most of the instruments on all of his records. Attached are a few of my all time favorite Stevie Wonder clips representing the love that not only his audience has for him, but the love Stevie shares with his audience and his art.

Too Old To Be New, Too New To Be Classic: 12 Years of DFA
In the latest film from Red Bull Music Academy, Red Bull turns their attention to DFA: the iconic NYC record label that got the indie kids to dance. Narrated by Marc Maron, it features music and appearances from James Murphy, LCD Soundsystem, The Rapture, Holy Ghost!, The Juan MacLean, Shit Robot, Sinkane, YACHT and many more.
DFA defined the sound of the ’00s with a succession of releases that took disco’s rhythmic template, punk’s rebel energy, new wave’s avant humor and created something entirely new. With unprecedented access to the label’s NYC headquarters, the bands and James Murphy himself, “Too Old To Be New, Too New To Be Classic” tells the story of how the imprint went from fledgling indie imprint to respected institution. Along the way you’ll get to see label manager Jonathan Galkin’s championship juggling, Gavin Russom and Matt Thornley’s jam-packed studios and James Murphy being... James Murphy. Narrated byMarc Maron, it features music and appearances by LCD Soundsystem, The Rapture, Holy Ghost!, The Juan MacLean, Shit Robot, Sinkane, YACHT and many more.

Captain America Movie Filming Causes Brief DC Bridge Closure on Sunday 5/5
The District’s Office of Motion Picture and Television Development announced this week that the Theodore Roosevelt Bridge will be intermittently closed Sunday, between 8:20 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., “to allow for the filming of a major motion picture.” Keep this in mind if you're planning to travel in or out of the city this Cinco de Mayo.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier and its working title, Freezer Burn, are not mentioned in the announcement, but ComicBookMovie.com says the plot of the film centers around D.C. While a lot of filming for the movie apparently took place in Cleveland, the niche website predicts that filmmakers need some shots of the real deal to complete the scene.
A sequel to 2011′s Captain America: The First Avenger and 2012′sThe Avengers, The Winter Soldier is scheduled to come out in April 2014.
Chris Evans is reprising his role as super soldier Steve Rogers, and IMDB.com says the new film follows him as he teams up with fellow Avenger Natasha Romanoff (a.k.a. Black Widow) “to battle a powerful yet shadowy enemy in present-day Washington, D.C.”
