Abandoned Holy Land USA
Reddit user katarokkar recently visited an abandoned 18-acre religious park called Holy Land USA in Waterbury, Connecticut. Originally built in the 50s the park closed to the public in 1984 and it consisted of a chapel, numerous Christian crosses, replicas of catacombs and Israelite villages constructed from cinder blocks, bathtubs and a recreation of the Garden of Eden.
He took these eerie and somewhat creepy pictures while looking around the still somewhat intact theme park. This place is filled with a fascinating, yet dark, aura. Especially considering what happened there in 2010…

In Walmart Shopper News....Man Kills Big Foot.
If you are reading this while out in the woods searching for Sasquatch, you’re too late. Bigfoot is dead. Rick Dyer, the apparently-famed Bigfoot hunter, “shot and killed” the creature in San Antonio, “nearly a year ago,” according to KSAT.
While Dyer didn’t exactly keep the trophy secret, the only proof he released was a grainy video clip he claims to have taken of the big beast inadvisedly lurking outside his tent in a wooded area outside of San Antonio. While Dyer had released some of the video on his YouTube channel — and some was included in the documentary “Shooting Bigfoot”— it failed to impress skeptics.
That could all change, though, now that Dyer was able to reclaim the body of the mythic hirsute creature and released photos of his kill to interested parties, fellow trackers and the skeptical public. In a news clip from ABC’s San Antonio affiliate KSAT, Dyer reveals the photos of the Bigfoot he claims to have lured to its death with the help of some Walmart pork ribs that he had nailed to a tree.
In the video, Dyer defends his catch against doubters. “Every test that you can possibly imagine was performed on this body — from DNA tests to 3D optical scans to body scans. It is the real deal. It’s Bigfoot and Bigfoot’s here, and I shot it and now I’m proving it to the world.” (Via) Dyer says he’ll hold a news conference shortly to reveal the full Bigfoot body and test results.
Dyer didn’t let KSAT keep all the glory for themselves, though. In addition to their report, he released his own video showing more photos of the Bigfoot he claims to have killed, posted under the compelling title, “New Bigfoot Picture’s NOT on KSAT12.”
Dyer also took the Bigfoot body on the road, much like Abraham Lincoln before him, letting mourners and gawkers pay their respects while he recorded their reactions to seeing the body. ”We wanted to get people’s reactions, make them believers, and we did it to over a 130 people,” Dyer told KSAT about the road tour. “We definitely made them believers.”
Dyer reportedly plans to take the body on tour across the U.S., Mexico and Canada where, for a small fee, he will let people view the body.
Listen Up: Diplo's 2013 Round Up Mix
Serious Eats Reviews Sriracha Vodka
C'mon, you had to know this was coming. In fact, we're kind of surprised it took this long. Sriracha has become so ubiquitous that it's showing up at Subway, and we've run a taste test to find our favorite version; now, you can add Sriracha flavored booze into your favorite cocktail. You may begin rejoicing.
Despite the red glass bottle that might suggest otherwise, UV Sriracha pours clear. It's not a Bloody Mary mix. (Though you can find that, too.) It smells like fresh peppers, both spicy and sweet, and that sweetness comes through in the flavor too, much more than we would've expected.
At first, this flavored vodka is pretty sugary, with the heat following after and hitting the back of the tongue. We'd say it ranks lower on the Scoville scale than the actual sauce, but there's still a bit of a burn. Still, we've gotta share some bad news. It's a stretch to say that UV Sriracha Vodka tastes like sriracha. It doesn't have that big, bold, vinegary and garlicky umami flavor. If you're expecting rooster sauce delivered in vodka form, you may be disappointed.
That's not to say this stuff doesn't have its value. It's a natural for mixing into a Bloody Mary—add one part UV to three parts Bloody mix. But it doesn't stop there: the company also suggests using it to spice up a fruity margarita or even a martini. We can't say it'll make a regular appearance in our home cocktails, but at $12 for 750mL, you won't likely regret it if you buy some for a joke.

Frito-Lay Mountain Dew Cheetos
Strange and magical things come out of Frito-Lay Japan. Things that we in Frito-Lay’s home country never get to see. The latest bit of corporate synergy/snack food horror to hit shelves across the Pacific? Mountain Dew flavored Cheetos.
Your first question probably is, “How much caffeine do they have?” The answer: we don’t know. We also can’t answer your other inevitable question, “why?” We can, however, tell you what they taste like. Based on an on-the-scene report (tonguewitness report?) from the Redditor who shared this marvel with the world, Mountain Dew Cheetos taste like…lemon-lime chips. “While they’re not as gross as I expected, they certainly aren’t enjoyable,” says ever-helpful jumblebutt. It’s a pretty weird taste.”
Of course, chips based on sibling-company sodas are nothing new at Frito-Lay, part of Yum! Brands and sibling of PepsiCo. After all, this is the company that gave the world Pepsi Cheetos and bacon Doritos.
If you want to experience the strangeness for yourself, you can buy the Cheetos yourself from importers like JBOX. If you’ve tried them, report back to us.

Interview: Ed Piskor Colors Hip-Hop History
Rooted in everything old school, cartoonist Ed Piskor is in the process of illustrating a full series of comics documenting the bedrock of urbanity: hip-hop. From what started as a web-comic series on Boing Boing, the first edition of Hip-Hop Family Tree was released in print back in November. Instantly gaining recognition as a non-fictional account of hip-hop’s early days, the cartoon is a graphic depiction of the genre’s constituents of gang-life, violence, and humor that cuts ass.
Loyal to his hometown of Pittsburgh, Piskor’s natural environment was scored with pop art and rap music, and his relationship with the two is obvious in his work.
“I was born in ’82 and hip-hop was already a thing, it sort of pushed beyond New York at that point and made it to Pittsburgh,” Piskor explained via phone to FRANK. “There were dudes in rap cyphers that would be walking down the street all the time, at the basketball court, in the parks. So that’s kind of how the hip-hop connection fits in.”
Featuring hysterical illustrations of innovators such as Russell Simmons, Grandmaster Flash, Kool DJ Red Alert, and many others, Hip-Hop Family Tree preserves an era full of lisps, drugs, and funk. Piskor, well versed in the realm of early hip-hop, transports readers to the Bronx, where the music is underground and still totally DIY.
Hip-Hop Family Tree is exactly what the title suggests, except it’s not some antiquated sketch of branches and names. This text is vital and explosive with color and honest dialogue that makes learning history so much more fun. With Book 2 already available for pre-order via Fantagraphics and four more books to follow, Piskor is determined to flesh out hip-hop’s excitable past.

Michael Bay Storms Off Stage
Bay has described getting stage fright at the Consumer Electronics Show, walking away after a teleprompter failed.
In a blog post on his website, the director — whose films include the “Transformers” series — wrote: “Wow! I just embarrassed myself at CES…”
Bay had been lending his name to Samsung’s new 105-inch curved UHD television, unveiled at the five-day CES tech conference in Las Vegas.
“My job, as a director, is I get to dream for a living,” he began, describing Hollywood as a place that “creates a viewer escape.”
Bay continued: “And what I try to do is I … uhhh, the type is all off — sorry, but I’ll just wing this.” With prompting from Samsung Executive Vice President Joe Stinziano, he went on: “We’ll wing it right now. I try to take people on an emotional ride and …”
When Stinziano asked how the product would impact Bay’s work, the director exited the stage, apologizing.
In his blog, Bay said he had been too eager to speak.“I just got so excited to talk, that I skipped over the Exec VP’s intro line and then the teleprompter got lost.
“Then the prompter went up and down — then I walked off. I guess live shows aren’t my thing.”Via CNN

Angelina Jolie set to star in Hollywood movie of Nigella Lawson's life
It's been reported that the 38-year-old actress is set to play TV chef Nigella Lawson in a Hollywood film about her recent heartache.
The idea for the movie, which could be released next year, came after the US was left stunned by Nigella's sudden split from her art tycoon husband Charles Saatchi.
According to The Sun, producers have been inundated with scripts and have set their sights on Angelina to portray the mother-of-two.
"Angie had planned to take a lot of time off next year but this role is very tempting," an insider told the newspaper. "She has been gripped like everyone else by all the drama surrounding Nigella these past few months and thinks she is a remarkable woman.
"The story has got it all - and she's as intrigued as anyone else by it."
The film will revolve around the ups and downs of Nigella's personal life and will include the £685,000 fraud trial that saw her two former aides cleared and Nigella admit to having taken cocaine.
The role may be quite a challenge for mother-of-six Angelina who once said: "I don't cook. It's the one thing I can't do."

Idris Elba Isn't Going To Play James Bond, Hates The Phrase 'Black Bond'
Some of the Internet really wants Idris Elba to play James Bond. Sadly, the "Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom" actor says those people will just have to sit down.
"It's a rumor that's gotten out of control, basically -- but that's all it is," Elba said on ITV's "Lorraine." "There's no truth in it whatsoever."
Elba, who was recently feted with Golden Globe nominations for his performances in "Mandela" and the BBC series "Luther," has seen his name tossed around in close ties to the next James Bond movie for months. Some were convinced Elba was perfect for the role, even as he expressed surprise at the consideration.
"Really? James Bond? I didn't know that was still sort of in the mix," Elba told HuffPost Entertainment when asked in November. "I say it all the time, but if it was to ever happen and if I was ever to get offered that role, that would be the will of a nation. That would be like, 'Wow, human beings are really powerful. They really made that happen, because [producer Barbara Broccoli] certainly didn't." ... It would be the will of a nation because everyone has been saying that to me."
If he seemed a little wishy-washy on the topic when asked previously, he was definitive about it this time. During his appearance on "Lorraine," the actor also expressed chagrin at the use of the term "black Bond."
"We don't say 'white Bond,' we just say 'Bond.' So it suddenly becomes a black man and he's a 'black Bond.' So I hate that phrase."
The next Bond movie is slated to arrive Nov. 6, 2015, with Daniel Craig expected to reprise the role. "Skyfall" director Sam Mendes and writer John Logan will return for the forthcoming sequel, which will mark the 24th entry in the series

Steven Seagal's a racist
Steven Seagal apparently doesn’t consider politics out of reach.
The actor and martial artist told a Phoenix-area ABC affiliate that he’s willing to reach into the belly of the beast, and considering a run for Arizona governor. Seagal, 61, has been hard to kill as one of sheriff Joe Arpaio’s “posse” a group of about 3,000 volunteer lawmen that are occasionally above the law. Seagal has been focused less on issues of urban justice than border security while working with Arpaio, and considers it an important problem facing the country.
While his political ambitions have to date been submerged — much like his recent film career — the executive decision to run or to hit the kill switch on a nascent campaign will come in consultation with the controversial Maricopa County sheriff, Seagal said.

Real life American Horror Story
Emma Roberts is engaged to Evan Peters, PEOPLE confirms.
According to the report, Peters, 26, proposed to Roberts, 22, in New York City over the holidays with a pink gold and diamond ring. The couple then jetted off to London for New Year's Eve.
The American Horror Story costars have been dating since 2012.
The actress was arrested for reportedly attacking Peters in a Montreal hotel last July.
A law enforcement source confirmed to PEOPLE that there was a dispute between a couple in Montreal on the reported date, and that a female was arrested, but declined to state the names of those involved because prosecutors decided not to press charges and the case had been closed.
The couple issued the following statement to PEOPLE addressing the disturbance.
"It was an unfortunate incident and misunderstanding," said the statement from their reps. "Ms. Roberts was released after questioning and the couple are working together to move past it."

Can Physicists Find Time Travelers on Facebook?
Twitter and Facebook have been asked to save journalism and overthrow autocrats. Now, two physicists have proposed an application even more ambitious: Can social media find time travelers?
Robert Nemiroff and Teresa Wilson, two researchers at Michigan Technological University, thought they might. In a study released online last week, the two scoured Twitter, Facebook, Google+ and a few other websites to find “prescient information”—that is, tweets and statuses about current events posted before the events became current. The only way someone could write such a post, they reasoned, is if they were visiting… from the future.
They specifically looked for posts about two topics, both chosen for their universality and future notability. The first was Comet ISON, an unusually bright comet discovered in September 2012. (Histories of bright comets have been “generally well kept by societies and journals around the world,” they write.) The second was Pope Francis, made leader of the largest sect of the world’s most popular religion in March 2013.
So, in the fall of this year, Nemiroff and Wilson searched Twitter, Facebook, and Google+ for references to Comet ISON and Pope Francis. They searched both the keywords—“Pope Francis”—and, on Twitter, the hashtagged version—“#popefrancis.”
Immediately, the two would-be time hunters ran into issues.
The first: Google+ doesn’t always order search results by time, confusing the research, they found. “It was therefore too difficult, in practice, to find older and potentially prescient informational mentions,” they lament. They abandoned the network.
Facebook search proved perhaps more frustrating. The service allows statuses to be backdated: A user could have made a post in the summer of 2013 about Pope Francis, then dated it to April 2008. As such, a user would look exactly like a time traveler. Furthermore—and perhaps even worse—Facebook frequently failed to return results for statuses posted too far in the past.
Attention, Facebook and Google+: Your social network’s crappy search is preventing humanity from finding time travelers from the future.
Even working through these issues, Nemiroff and Wilson failed to find a single particularly prescient post on Facebook or Google+.
On Twitter, though, they did find one tweet, posted before March 2013, referencing “Pope Francis.” Once they consulted the blog post it advertised, though, they the tweet “deemed overtly speculative and not prescient.”
Apparently, if time travelers are on a social network, they aren’t using it to spoil the news.
Veronica Mars Movie Trailer
You may as well watch this first trailer for the Veronica Mars movie—your Kickstarter dollars probably paid for it.
The first, most successful, and most highly publicized of the recent crowdfunded film projects, the Veronica Mars movie revives the nearly decade-old (yes, we know, move on) and cultishly beloved TV show that starred Kristen Bell as a teen detective investigating crimes in her hometown of Neptune, California. A decade later Veronica is living in New York with her college flame Piz (Chris Lowell) and leaving her detective life behind her, until her high school ex Logan (Jason Dohring) is accused of murder. And it just so happens to be around the time of her 10-year high school reunion! Which means that not only is the gang getting back together, but Veronica gets to solve a juicy mystery while also landing a punch on an old bully.
If you didn't watch Veronica Mars—and given that it ranked around #140 among all series when it aired, you probably didn't—you'll have to imagine the squeals of fan delight when familiar characters like Madison Sinclair (Amanda Noret) and Cindy (Tina Majorino) appear, and understand that, before they were Schmidt from New Girl or Jane from Breaking Bad, Max Greenfield and Krysten Ritter were beloved by Veronica Mars fans, too. Can their newfound fame, and Kristen Bell's status as a reigning box office champ thanks to her voice work in Frozen, get Veronica Mars the attention in theaters it never found on television?
There's basically no precedent for a movie like this, with characters and stories previously owned by a corporation now going independent and releasing a movie targeted almost exclusively at existing fans. That means that director Rob Thomas, Bell, and the movie's funders (which could include you!) can claim virtually anything as a victory. When the film opens on March 14 in AMC Theaters, it may not even make back the $5.7 million donated to make it, but given that none of those Kickstarter investors were offered a return on their investment, that might not even matter. We're only a few days into 2014, and already the brave new future of film distribution is barreling toward us—in the form of a teen detective last seen on UPN. The future is weird, guys.

20 Years Ago, De La Soul REFUSED to go POP
This year marks the 20th anniversary of a remarkable year in music. Over the 12 months of 1993, Queen Latifah, Salt 'n' Pepa, Snoop Dogg, A Tribe Called Quest, the Wu-Tang Clan and more than a dozen other rappers released albums that helped to change the sound of America. Among them was a record by De La Soul that challenged the music industry — an industry then obsessed with taking hip-hop to the mainstream. The album is now considered a classic.
When the three members of De La Soul began work on Buhloone Mindstate, they had pretty much had it with the music industry, says David Jolicoeur aka Trugoy, one of the group's two MCs. "We had been through the 'machine,' " he says. "I think we were truly burnt out."
Trugoy, along with group mates Posdnuos and P.A. Mase, scored a major success with De La's 1989 debut, Three Feet High and Rising. The trio immediately established itself as one of hip-hop's most eclectic and creative groups, especially in their storytelling, says journalist and filmmaker Raquel Cepeda. "They upped the ante for other people to tell wonderful stories through their music," she says. "For example, Wu-Tang Clan — who you wouldn't necessarily put in the same category, if you will, with De La Soul, but at the same time, they kind of set it up."

Mapping Emotions On The Body
Close your eyes and imagine the last time you fell in love. Maybe you were walking next to your sweetheart in a park or staring into each other's eyes over a latte.
Where did you feel the love? Perhaps you got "butterflies in your stomach" or you're heart raced with excitement.
When a team of scientists in Finland asked people to map out where they felt different emotions on their bodies, it found that the results were surprisingly consistent, even across cultures.
People reported that happiness and love sparked activity across nearly the entire body, while depression had the opposite effect: It dampened feelings in the arms, legs and head. Danger and fear triggered strong sensations in the chest area, the volunteers said. And anger was one of the few emotions that activated the arms.
The scientists hope that these body emoticons may one day help psychologists diagnose or treat mood disorders.
"Our emotional system in the brain sends signals to the body so we can deal with our situation," says , a psychologist at Aalto University who lead the study.
"Say you see a snake and you feel fear," Nummenmaa says. "Your nervous system increases oxygen to your muscles and raises your heart rate so you can deal with the threat. It's an automated system. We don't have to think about it."
That idea has been known for centuries. But scientists still don't agree on whether these bodily changes are distinct for each emotion and whether this pattern serves as a way for the mind to consciously identify emotions.
